By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answer24 FPS looks cinematic, 30 FPS is the everyday standard, 60 FPS is smoother for motion and slow-down but uses more storage.
Frame rate is how many pictures per second your video records.
24 frames per second
The classic film look. Motion has a little blur.
30 frames per second
A common default for social video. Looks smooth and natural.
60 frames per second
Smoother motion, good for sport and fast movement. Files are larger and low light can look worse.
How to choose
- Talking to camera: 30 is usually fine.
- Cinematic look: 24.
- Fast action: 60.
Available settings depend on your iPhone model and iOS version.
