By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerCamera Control, on iPhone 16 models and later, opens the camera with a press, takes a photo with another press, starts video with a press and hold, and lets you adjust zoom and exposure with a light press and slide. Supported third-party camera apps can use it too.
Basics
- Press: open the camera.
- Press again: take a photo.
- Press and hold: record video.
- Light press: show controls; slide to adjust.
Settings
Settings › Camera › Camera Control lets you change which app it opens and how sensitive it is.
Filming yourself
Handy for quick shots, but for self-filming from a distance, a timer or remote still works best.
Questions
Can it open other camera apps?
Yes, apps that support it can be chosen in Settings.
